This is a KAZAK RUG from the capital rug making region of Afghanistan called Mazar e Sharif.
They are made from handspun sheep wool, cotton base and very fine knots. They are very serviceable rug as they are woven so tight, they can last for generations. 50 or 60 years of service is not much for these rugs.
